Our Compassionate Journey

Our journey started with seeing the homeless and their struggle to survive. What is our response to the homeless?  How do we treat them? Proverbs 28:27 (ESV) states "Whoever gives to the poor will not want, but he who hides his eyes will get many a curse."  Our response is to try to bring them services that will restore their dignity and let them know they are significant and important.

We are aware that many believe that each of the people who are homeless have done something to cause their situation.  We would say to them, if it was not for the grace of GOD, we could be in that homeless person’s position.  We believe Romans 3: 23 (ESV) which states "...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of GOD, ..."  We believe that GOD's grace is unearned, undeserved favor, love, and mercy.

There are many other reasons for homelessness.  To learn more please go to Reasons for Homelessness page.

I thought about starting a nonprofit for homeless outreach for years.  The idea came to my mind when I was living in Conway, SC.  I noticed many homeless people living on or near the boardwalk in Myrtle Beach, SC.  I dreamed of shower trailers, washer/dryer trailers, a kitchen trailer, and much more.  All of them mobile and self-contained.

Years passed and locations changed.  In Vienna, VA, I see the homeless in the daytime and at night while walking my dog.  I see them in the grocery stores or just outside the doors of the grocery stores.  They are right “in my face”.  I thought, what can one person do to help them.  I realized one person can make a difference but decided it was time to launch my idea, my dream.  I believe many hands make light work.

I do not believe I am the only person who sees the homeless and wants to take positive actions to help those who want help.  I pray I am right.
